Katie Geddes is a PhD student in the Abess Center for Ecosystem Science and Policy in the Rosenstiel School of Marine, Atmospheric, and Earth Science.  Her interdisciplinary research focuses on the impact of climate change on high seas fisheries, particularly tunas, and the implications for society, including policy dimensions.  With educational training and work experience across the biological and social sciences, Geddes is interested in bridging the gap between marine science and the communities that are most affected by the health of the ocean.  She is particularly interested in working in international contexts and worked at the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) for six years coordinating among NOAA and its national and international counterparts to advance oceanic, atmospheric, and climate observations research around the world.  Geddes has frequently represented NOAA at intergovernmental fora including the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) of UNESCO in Paris and the UN in New York.

Geddes previously served as an intern at the U.S. National Park Service and the White House Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ), both during the Obama Administration.  Geddes received a Bachelors in Biology from Georgia Tech and a Masters in Anthropology from the University of Maryland.
