Thomas Klein, ASLA, WEDG is a PhD student in the University of Miami’s Environmental Science and Policy Program at the Rosenstiel School for Marine, Atmospheric, and Earth Science. 

As the Director of the Center for Urban and Community Design at the University of Miami, Klein is passionate about crafting public spaces that are ecologically resilient and socially vibrant. Working at the intersection of design, policy, and climate adaptation, Klein is drawn to large-scale projects that integrate human and non-human systems to advance urban resilience. Klein has collaborated on projects that reflect the complex challenges facing cities today, building diverse coalitions and developing new approaches for a wide range of topics that enable the implementation of a more resilient built environment. 

Prior to joining the University of Miami, Klein held roles as a Project Manager at SCAPE Landscape Architecture and as the Waterfront Planning & Design Advisor at the Waterfront Alliance. He earned a Master of Landscape Architecture from Washington University in St. Louis and a Master in Public Administration from the Harvard Kennedy School.
